Document Management System for Emergency Responder Radio Coverage Compliance

A Public Service

This document management system is aimed at helping Building Owners, the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), and Public Safety DAS System Integrators securely manage records and data associated with in-building Emergency Responder Radio Coverage (ERRC) surveys, implementation, and compliance.  Any and all documents relating to a building’s compliance with International Fire Code (IFC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) may be securely stored, viewed, and retrieved from this system.  There is no cost for using this system and users will have 100% privacy for all data stored on the system.

Background: Code Enforcement for ERRC Systems

As of 2009, jurisdictions began adopting IFC and NFPA ordinances that require building owners to test for Emergency Responder Radio Coverage (ERRC) inside the building. This is to ensure that first responder’s 2-way radio systems will reliably transmit and receive radio signals from anywhere in a building. Buildings that do not pass ERRC coverage tests must install a signal amplification system in order to meet jurisdiction ordinance requirements or face fines or even the withholding of the Certificate of Occupancy.

How this Document Management System Works

Start by creating your account. You can Sign up yourself. An e-mail will be sent to you with step by step instructions on how to set up your account. You can set up an account for your Company, Building(s), System Integrator or AHJ (Agency Having Jurisdiction). Once you’ve established your account, you can add folders and upload your files as needed.

What’s in it for me?

IFC and NFPA regulations require buildings with an installed signal amplification system to be inspected annually to ensure the amplifier system meets the signal standards of the jurisdiction. In the past, inspection data was loosely tracked by the building owners and jurisdictions, resulting in missed annual inspections or costly recertification testing. If a building was sold to a new owner, the test data may be lost altogether. This system provides centralized storage and tracking so that annual inspections are accomplished with minimal effort and cost.

Document Management Value Features

  • Users can securely upload ERRC test result files and engineering designs
  • AHJs can store and track ERRC related forms for each installation project
  • Industry standard form templates can be downloaded and customized.
  • System Integrators can audit documentation for network design, installation and Tests.
  • Project documentation can be modified and history tracked
  • AHJs can use date tracking to send email reminders to Building Owners of upcoming Annual Tests
